Photonic Sources & Detectors Workshop

Venue:Still Room, IET Teacher Building, 14 St Enoch Square, Glasgow, G1 4DB

Date: Wed 03 Mar 2010

Time: 1500 - 1800

Cost:FREE

The Scottish Optoelectronics Association, Photonics & Plastic Electronics (PPE) KTN and OptoCem.Net invite you to participate in a “Photonic Sources & Detectors Workshop”.  The event will be of great interest to companies and researchers in the field and everyone will have the opportunity to contribute.

Research and industry continue to push the availability of solid state sources and detectors into shorter UV, longer IR and Terahertz wavelengths.  Devices at new wavelengths open up new applications and cause step changes in the cost and performance of systems which use them.  New and potential applications include, Gas and Chemical Sensing (UV, IR), Disinfection (UV), Imaging (IR, THz), etc.

Speakers at the event will summarise recent advances in the field.  The event will build on “UV, IR & THz Solid State Sources & Detectors” held on 14 January 2009, also run by the SOA.  Output from the 2009 event included a document created by delegates, detailing key Applications, Features, Technology Drivers & Barriers for UV, IR and THz Sources & Detectors. This material will be reviewed and discussed.
